Does the library carry textbooks?

As a rule, the library does not purchase textbooks for the collection, due to frequent changes and updates.

If you want to check to see if the library has a certain title please visit the WKU Libraries website and search for your title using the One-Search Library Catalog (the big search box in the middle of the page)":

  1. Go to the Advanced Search link in the lower right corner of the box.
  2. Put the title in one line of the search box, and the author in the other line.
  3. If we have the book it should show up pretty close to the top of the results.
  4. You can also choose "books" in the Resource Type section of the left sidebar to make sure you're only seeing books.
  5. Go to the FAQs entry on How Can I Find a Book for a more information on finding books at WKU Libraries.
  6. If you need further assistance visit us at the Cravens Commons Research Assistance Desk, or call (270) 745-6176.

Occasionally your instructor or professor will put textbooks and other class materials on reserve at the library. You can check for this using the Course Reserve tab on TOPCAT. Reserve materials are kept at the Visual and Performing Arts Library (VPAL), located on the 2nd floor of Cravens Library.
